My Soul is Your Ransom
-
Yesterday we visited some local scholars with Habib Umar. It was a lesson in adab (good manners) to see the immense love and respect that these scholars showed one another.
One of the Shaykhs asked Habib about his father, Habib Muhammad bin Salim bin Hafiz bin Shaykh Abu Bakr bin Salim (may Allah sanctify his secrets), and he told them of his disappearance in 1382 AH (Gregorian year: 1962).
The scholars of southern Yemen at that time had to sign a registry each day in order to prove that they were in town because they were prevented from travel. Before the Friday Prayer one day, his father left the Mosque to sign the registry. Habib Umar escorted him out and his father gave him what Habib Umar describes as, “his last gaze.”
His father never came back and young Habib Umar returned to his home carrying his father’s mantel (rida’) as well as the trust of bearing the Message that even at that young age had been firmly planted within him.

Thumma ameen.
Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah,
I know I have been out of touch for quite a while, but i incidentally stumbled across this blog, and must say that I’m finding much of the information very useful ….May Allah (SWT) make this a means to benefit us all and to draw nearer to him.
Please remember us in your prayers Insha’Allah…we would appreciate it if you would kindly ask the Haba’ib of Yemen to remember us in their dua.
Jazak Allah Khair,
