Full Moon Rising – Spring 2011
-
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate
As the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, first entered Medina at the time of the hijra (migration), the children came into the streets joyfully singing “the white moon rose over us from the valley of Wada,” referring to the coming of the Last Prophet into their midst. As Shaykh Abdul Hakim Murad explains, this song was an expression of the love these children had for the Prophet, peace be upon him. “This love was expressed from the moment the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Madinah, when girls from a local tribe beat their tambourines, and sang, rejoicing, invoking him, comparing him to the full moon, the purest and most beautiful thing known to the Arabs.”
Indeed, many traditions describing the Prophet and numerous poetry, such as Imam Busiri’s Burda, referred to his countenance as the ‘full moon’. Full Moon Rising: The Light and Life of the Last Prophet course offered by Qibla: Foundation for the Islamic Sciences is dedicated to bringing the light of this radiant moon into our lives and illuminating within our hearts the glow of this glorious love.
Drawing primarily from the seerah (Prophetic biography) and shamail (Prophetic description) works of Yusuf an–Nabhani and the Shamail al-Tirmidhi, lessons will cover the Prophet’s external and internal person, his life, and his lineage, Allah bless him and grant him peace.
By the end of the course, you will be able to recount the Prophet’s lineage, give a summary and time line of his life, and describe aspects of his physical appearance and character.
The goal of this course is for you to increase in your love and magnify your attachment to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, so that a longing to emulate him is stirred within you. In addition, through developing an understanding of the Prophetic biography and characteristics, Islam will become more tangible and fundamental matters of legislation will become easier to apply in your life, insha Allah. Finally, you will learn many personally obligatory facts about the Prophet’s life as well as details that every lover of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, should know.
The strength and weakness of our iman (faith) correlates directly to the amount of love we have for the Prophet, peace and blessing be upon him. The more attached you become to him, the more iman you will have.
What better way to welcome and make good the new Hijri year than to study the life and being of our Beloved Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, with the intention of increasing our love and attachment to him?
Don’t delay — register for this beneficial course today! The first Live Session will in sha Allah begin on Jan. 23.
